Because [livejournal.com profile] kotono asked, I got some more pics of Edea while I redid all the stuff I lost.

Here-ya )
mimi_sardinia: (Default)
I have just spent the last few hours working on Edea's household - I moved them all again, and was getting all the lot set up and all, it's a lot from MST2 that is big, but is mostly open and has a huge number of trees, with only a small house. I'd got all sorts of things I felt it needed and all, and I'd just decided to age up the kids and in the middle of doing a little makeover work on Blaise... it crashed and I lost the whole damn evening's work!

Dammit, that is going to be a pain to do over again, though I think I'll dispense with some of the outdoor stuff I put in... but it's a pain to have to do all that work over again.

I just have to say, I hate building houses from scratch. I think I did it too much, and got sick of so many of them being terribly blocky, and all the stuff that needs to be done to get it all properly renovated and all. Probably one of the reasons why I'm not doing much in the Seeker house is for just that reason. After the Prima house and the admittedly lost session in the Grove lot with Edea... well I'm feeling very tempted to start yet again with the Seekers on a premade lot - if I can find one I like.

Just... bleh.

I've mostly been placing houses and making families in the Sims - I have Edea ready to move into her permanent house, I replaced Optimus and Magnus with a couple of independently made versions so Magnus isn't stuck with the same surname as Optimus, and I remade my Self Sims )

It's rather inevitable that I'd get plotbunnies somewhere along the way - well no, it isn't, because not every fandom I have been involved in, one way or another has generated plotbunnies, but Transformers is one that I feel enough connection to that I have been getting them.

I've left off until now however because some of my earlier thoughts were only partial but I've been mulling over one that has developed to a point that I just have to put it to rest somehow, and writing a synopsis has worked in the past.

You know, where I exposition at you, in length. )

Okay, so I have a baby plotbunny that could easily be divided into two parts, though I built the idea as one whole idea.

It basically gives some history to how and why Squall has the Griever pendant and ring, tying it into his family history and his early relationship with Ellone.

Leonhart History )

The Griever-bunny has officially adopted this as part of Guardianverse.

Just listening to the FFVIII soundtrack I got from [livejournal.com profile] ff7aeris... I just discovered that the Crystal Prelude is in FFVIII.

It's in the piece of music that plays if you get a Game Over.

ETA: The title Cactus Jack makes me think it is one of those ludicrously improbable songs that for song reason has become a major patriotic song.

The perennial Real World example of that (for me at least) is Waltzing Matilda, which is probably Australia's second most patriotic theme (behind the anthem)... but it's a song about a sheep thief committing suicide to keep from being taken captive by the cops.

I'm bored.

Oh, I have plenty to read, if I want Torchwood but my interests have swung back to FF a bit lately - not in the least due to [livejournal.com profile] madamhydra's new fic - and it's far too late in the night for me to put the Sims 2 on and no one I might consider talking to is on AIM at the moment and no one's on Yahoo at all (and don't talk to me about MSN - a pox on MSN and them ignoring me and not accepting my username and passwords).

I did get writing a "Complete Facts About Guardianverse" thing - if only to lay out for myself all the disparate bits of backstory, but it's already bugging me because I forgot certain canon details of FF4 - like the Lunarians coming from a planet within the same system (I hate the implication that the Blue Planet is Earth) and some of the extended backstory I made up in my head is itching now that I get it into words because it feels like I'm stuffing more history into FFIV than it really has room for - not something I have a problem with as far as FFVIII goes for some reason though.

Blah. I guess I'll go back to TW fic.

So Thursday morning I had a lovely little medival slashy romance dream that I have been ruminating over for the last few days (now my two unamed guys from it have been stamped with Basch and Squall's faces due to my resistance to let Brokeback Mountain take them over), now - this morning - I had a puzzling little part-meta, part crossover dream that amuses me a bit.

What I remember of the begining had to do with novels and videos of old Doctor Who stories - one that had the Master in them (whether or not they really did in the waking world or not) and some strange idea that I bought them during a phase of fannishness for the Master (which IRL, I've never had).

Then I went to sit down at a table, where a young Sarah-Jane Smith joined me and I could see, out the window, a border fiddling with a motorcycle... who happened to be Sephiroth. Sarah-Jane saw him and was a bit freaked out, and I was worried she was going to cause trouble and started to reassure her that he's fine - he's just Jamie, the resident amnesiac of the house, while thinking on how that name is also the name of one of the Doctor's old companions.

And it was at that point that the newest resident wandered out, looking for breakfast - Squall, wearing black jeans and a black pullover and long Leon-esque hair - and I'm also wondering how he's going to react to Seph when he sees him... but I woke up at about that point.

And unlike the one from a few days ago, this isn't really fodder for fantasy, just one of those lovely curiosities one is damn glad to be able to remember.
mimi_sardinia: (Laguna/Squall - I know the truth now)
So, I finally resolved a problem in my Sims 2 game and ended up with a new sim as a result.

Meet Storm )
mimi_sardinia: (Are We There Yet?)
Well I have been doing a fair bit of work in Sims 2, fixing problems and getting my households restored again.

First off, I was having problems with Supernova House - the house where Sephiroth and Jenova are. When I tried to load it, it would keep on crashing on me.
Well I got past it by creating a stand-in sim (Freya Strife), putting her on a block and using one of my pet modded items to move Seph, Jen and Cloud in.

This does mean however that I lost all teh furnishings in Supernova House, which is going to be a pain to restore, but it means I don't have to go back to an old savegame (which is a pain in itself, because I think the last save file I have is before I built the Org families).

I do have one strange problem though, Laguna is registering two Squalls in his relationships - the one who I just moved in, and the one he is married to. That's a pain, because it's suposedly the same Squall but until I can deal with the phantom one (that he thinks he's married to) I can't get them remarried, and I don't know SimPE well enough to get it straighened out.

I also went and changed Xehanort's hair to the Xemnas style from MTS2, the results of which are ridiculously cute, because I haven't yet let him age up from toddlerhood.

I'm going to poke around SimPE and see what I can find about the phantom Squall. If I have to, I'll kill off Laguna and remake him totally - same applies to Seph if I get similar problems with him and Cloud.

Edit: I did it, I killed Laguna off and made a new one. I hope it doesn't take too long for the reserection wants to disappear from Squall's Wants dial - maybe I'll look into making them parents.
mimi_sardinia: (More Fun Than A Hole In The Head)
There are three GFs that are practically mysteries to most FFVIII players: Chicobo, Moomba and MiniMog.

Thank goodness Square thought to put Chocobo World on the PC version!

My point? I've been screencapping again )

I still have a couple of bugs to work out - I tried to transfer Boko back to CW but it showed up blank on me. I think I need to nut out the intricacies of the relationship between the two programs.

This is also the first time I have ever uploaded a picture here on LJ. Photobucket wanted to be a bitch.

I'm not pleased about this, it started as some way to get one of my silly music-inspired mental images into words but turned serious on me, ending up feeling like a piece out of a larger series of events that I'm not sure I'll ever get written.

As usual, this is somewhat a crossover AU, with FFVII and FFIV characters appearing in the FFVIII-world as GFs - and I haven't given all their original names either.

But anyhow... Night Interrupted )

(Some day I might even elaborate on the matter of Tyr and Frigga's alternate identities, and Quistis' issues with Griever.)

Okay, I give up on the idea of making a new neighbourhood for my FF and KH sims - I've moved all of them back into Pleasantview, though spread across both the home neighbourhood and Bluewater - the shopping district - with Hojo in Downtown.

Not all of them will stay where they are at the moment, there's at least four temp lots that I need to rehouse the tennants, and some of the older houses I want to get rid of and rebuild, or renovate a pre-existing lot, because frankly the ones that are my own making are awful blocky things and the reno jobs on a whole tend to be far more elegant.

I also have to move all of the current residents of Shinra Mansion out - barring the core family of Vincent, Aeris and Lucrecia. I also want to start moving kids off into college now I've decided on this course of action, so that will mean Ellone will end up leaving Shinra too.

I am going to try start my effort to reconstruct the FF10 sims' relationship bonds - meaning constructing individual families like the Al Bhed family I tried making before (and lost due to savegame deletion), and a Spira house that will be a Braska stand-in and Auron, and Zanarkand that will have a Jecht stand-in so the kids will have all the right parental records and Yuna will legitimately be Rikku and Brother's cousin.

I also finally loaded Glamour Life Stuff, which has been sitting on my shelf for a week now, unopened, and I have yet to go into Xehanort's house to change his hair to the more correct Xemnas style I found had been made, but I hoping that now I can get back into the swing of my Sims game.
mimi_sardinia: (May Angels (Laguna))
It seems I should keep a closer eye on my favourite characters' Wikipedia pages.

There was a paragraph I removed from the article about Laguna that speculated that he could get impeached because of the game events. It's pure speculation that is not hinted at all in the game, and it also smacks of being written in by someone who has some sort of grudge against Laguna - or at least that's how I feel.

But some time in November a new version of it got put back in.

Oh I deleted it again, but still, I don't particularly like that such speculation on post-game events has been included in the article - especially when it's so negative about a character who so adorkable.

I'll just have to watch the article better, that it doesn't happen again.

Due to a post on [livejournal.com profile] fanthropology I off-the-cuff, invented this variation of the "I'm in ur base, killin' ur doodz" meme for FFVIII:

Squall: Ur in my dreems, I think ur a moron.
mimi_sardinia: (Default)
Just a note that I almost forgot to make at all,

I have practically no bloody idea how to use SimPE now that I have it, but I at least managed to correct the madness of the Strife-Loire name - that is to say I edited the names of everyone who wears it to something that is more correct for their characters.
I chopped the Loire part off of Cloud, Sephiroth and Plot Device (a temp character I was experimenting with, she's dead, but she probably still appears in Cloud's memories), chopped the Strife part off of Laguna's name, changed Aeris to Gainsborough, Squall to Leonhart, Vincent and his half-alien daughter Lucrecia to Valentine, Shiva's son by Squall - Talos - to Leonhart-Icequeen and Ellone Ifalna to Leonhart-Gainsborough.

That girl has a damn long name.

I don't think I'll be playing that house again until I decide on a perminent neighbourhood for all my sims.

I am, at the moment, feeling like giving up and returning the lot of them to Pleasantview - just spreading them over the various sub-neighbourhoods. Maybe the Org sims would go well in Downtown.

Blah. I really haven't been in the mood lately to play games at all - at least not any of the big games, stuff like Freecell and Chocobo World exempt.
