Well I am finally doing it. I am reloading The Sims 2.

It's a long process - I have all the expansions as well as the Stuff packs, and the main expansions tend to want Disc 1 put back in at the end of the installing of that exp.

Then I will have to excavate all my custom content, which is divided up into a dozen or more folders for sake of copying convenience.

I don't have any of my old saves, and I seriously doubt I have any old saves of my pet favourite homemate sims. Oh, I can attempt to rebuild them, but there's no absolute guarantee I'll get them the same. Ultra Magnus may get fertilised by the wrong alien. Aeris and Squall's baby may take more after Squall - id I can find the original Aeris I had who mothered Ellone Ifalna.

And I don't have much hope of that.

I hope I have a better chance wih regaining Starwing.

ETA: As it turns out, I am missing huge swathes of CC I thought I had. Namely sims I thought I had. The most egregious absence is, of course, my TF sims, and my extra optional aliens. I will have to hunt them down, and it looks like I can't have Sunstorm or Dawnwar again, since those recolours came from Dogbite.

I am probably also missing all that cool content that made Starwing look cool in the icon on this post - wings, Cardasian dress, Terminator skin, possibly even the hair style.

If so, I will probably slink back to the comforting arms of S3 and Baldur's Gate 2.

I may be lucky... there seems to be pre-existing Optimus content, so I just hope that also includes Ultra Magnus.

ETA - The Revenge: ( I Am Relieved )

I am having to uninstall the Sims 2 because I just found that my A drive was practically full. That may be the reason I had so many "Low Virtual Memory" warnings, but even so, those were before I installed S3.

I've saved the last save folder over onto Vector Prime - the terabyte drive - but this does bring into question whether next time I have money, I should go in and get a total overhaul and get a new A drive installed. Of course doing that likely means I have to reinstall absolutely everything on the computer, so it's a bit of an intimidating matter, but still, it will do huge favours for the system over all.

At least with the Sims, I am well distracted by S3, so I won't be too bugged by not having S2.


Edit: Unistalling that (and everything else I could find to pull off) has freed up 19 MB - that's almost half of the drive freed up. Yes, I know, a 40 MB drive is small but one has to remember that Airë is the only piece of the original computer we bought in 2001 left in the current system. Back in 2001 40 MB was reasonably good - I think top of the line was only 80 MB then.

Hopefully clearing all that will help the system work better.

I have, lately, been starting to move various nieghbourhood kids into college. That means there's also been some incidental aging-up of younger children.

Of all the strange things... for some mysterious reason, the house that the Seekers were in, in the Sims, has vanished and the Seekers were in the Families bin (the place that families get put when they aren't placed on a lot).

Currently, I have all of the Seekers living across the road from where their house was - in the house that Starscream and Soundwave have just moved in to. I have a new lot across from them, but it's a blank lot, not a repeat of the old lot (that has it's issues for why I am not totally happy with it), but I just realised I'm going to have to move someone out of Star and Sound's house to claim it. *Sigh*

Anyway, I'm going to try building my own attempt at a house for them. At least I only have to set up... four rooms? Maybe I'll do five, with possible plans of a child for Warp and TC.
