I'm going to cancel the PSP laybuy.

I have my reasons - I am not, and I doubt I will ever be and enthusiastic gamer, and the track record I have with both my PS2 and GBA/DS games show that getting the PSP is just going to be a huge waste of money for me.

I have a couple of things earmarked for the money, once it's free, things which I personally believe will be a great deal better appreciated, and won't inflict a constant dull guilt because I never play with them.

I am inclined to finally give my playstation a name - Xemnas.

Dunno why, other than I currently have a thing for Xemnas.

I am monumentally bored.

I also totally failed to hear the rain (Mum was just meeping about wet clothes).

Meanwhile, a not so random pimpage: [livejournal.com profile] icedark_elf's Nibelhiem Burning and Oh Gracious Twist Of Fate. Giiven that she's writing OGTOF for NaNo, here's a good source of November reading for FFVII fans.

I stumbled across a really good buy today, while I was in poking around Target. Two PS2 memory cards for $39.88.

Now take into consideration that all the other memory cards all had the exact same price, for single card packs.

I didn't actually see any other double packs in either of the security cabinets that contained memory cards so I think I was lucky.

That means I have one memory card per game that I currently own - though I'm not sure if that means I will take up playing FFX again yet - I have enough of a juggle finding time to play both of my KH games between work and my internet addiction (really, I love the internet - I seem to find excuses to stay on - even when the only apparently interesting option is to put on The Sims 2. I just feel like the internet is one of my few true links with the world - one that's interactive).

So I'll haul myself upstairs soon and start shifting games onto these two darlings so I'm not filling card space at both ends (I have my KH2 save at the bottom end of the same card that my KH1 saves are on) and they are still all playable, which is more than I can say for the saves on the Max Drive (I have to stick in the AR Max disk to even be able to identify the flashdrive on the PS2, let alone be able to transfer games from it to a memory card).

In a slightly odd turn of fan-driven perchasing, I bought a packet of sherbet lemons. I totally blame American publishers who feel a need to translate British books into American English - specifically the Harry Potter books, which I once heard a few examples of how typically British idioms and word usages got changed into more American ones. The three examples I recall is pants/trousers, lorry/pickup truck and sherbet lemons/[some sort of term for lemon candy].

*Idly using the Squee! icon because I have Xemnas on the brain at the moment.*

Okay, so today Mum and I went out for her day late birthday lunch. We didn't do it yesterday because I had work and also I had to go in an hour early because it was stocktake.

Anyway, last night I finally made myself look up Ebay again for an album I'd promised myself I'd buy at some point - the FFVIII soundtrack - and I found one going pretty cheap.

Oh, there was a few copies of a seven disk set that included the orchestral thingies, the Eyes On Me single and such but between both the cost they were asking for them and the postage they were going to be $50 - American.

I went for a buy that was just the four-disk soundtrack because I could afford that.

Anyway, after lunch, we went down to the nearest branh of the bank Mum and I have our accounts in - which is in the big shopping mall to the south of our home. I put the money into Mum's account (she's the one who owns the Visa card I do my Paypal stuff through) and I decided to go poke in EB Games.

They finally have KH2 in their Coming Soon displays.

Guess what I did? If your guess includes the word "preorder" then you get a cookie. I also laybuyed a guide book for the game, that if I get it off at the same time I get the game itself I get a 20% discount on.

I really should get on with playing KH1 but those damn barrels keep pissing me off. Anyone got advice on how to get through the barrel challenge in the first Collesium visit?

Edit: Ehh... looks like I made a mistake about the FFVIII CD - it's not the whole soundtrack, it's just the orchestral thingie - Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec. Still, that's not bad - it's the best tracks from the game, played by an orchestra.

Does anyone else have problems with Donald and Goofy getting in the way while you're running around trying to reach all those out-of-the-way places where treasure chests are located? Because damn! Every second time (or so it seems) I tried to jump on that rock to get onto the leaf platforms in the Lotus Forest in Wonderland either Goofy or Donald were standing on it!

I supose I'll get used to it - there's a hell of a lot of the game ahead still.

Getting those powersaves has however given me a new incentive to play!

Meh

I hate the race to the Star Tree, I find it is almost inevitable that I fall down on the second or last jump to the platform and Sora does keep wanting to climb the damn coconut trees and by the time I've gotten him there anyway Riku is probably already back by Kairi waiting (and probably too smug for his own good).

Though it does give me all sorts of thoughts about how Sora would feel about the whole thing after losing the race - especially with the whole paopou fruit part of it.

Is there a different scene if Sora wins the race? The way I'm going I'll never see it.

I think I need an ink cartridge. It's a bit of a pain that I can only read a walkthrough here on teh compy while my TV and teh PS2 is upstairs in my bedroom. Already had a bit of a pain with that, chasing down the last mushroom and the damn annoying seagull egg. An ink cartridge would mean I can print up tracts of walkthrough and take them upstairs so I have them on hand but hell, a cartridge is gonna cost the better part of $30 at least (if I am not underestimating it, which is not unlikely).

And damn, I still have a phonebill standing over my head.
