I have been contemplating FF/BG crossovers again - or more specifically a FF/BG fusion.
I've been thinking of Candlekeep as being somewhere Cloud goes to learn - like Midgar in FFVII canon. I'm not sure where Gorion or Zack come in, maybe Gorion lived in Nibelheim instead. Oh, and that's another question, where in Faerûn is Nibelheim located? I glanced at my map while I was upstairs a little while ago and part of me says Turmish but the other part wants to say Vaasa. I'm not sure about Vaasa though, it's closer to Cormyr.
I'm also having a bit of trouble deciding which forms of magic work and which don't. Summons definately but most other materia-based magic? I don't think so.
Summons would work a bit different too - to accomidate both them and Forgotten Realms gods. I'm thinking I need to borrow some of the bits I know from other FFs to make it work in my head - I believe characters have to fight GFs before they can junction them? And a good part of the pilgrimage in FFX includes stopping off at temples? Well the thought in mind is that the Summons are avatars or celestials of the [FR] gods and they have hidden temples. One has to face a test of combat before being allowed the summon item (red materia?) of that given Summon/avatar.
Which of course brings in the issue of which Faerûnian god fits which Summon?
My info on Summons comes from Eternal Legend. FR gods come from the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting or from Mere of the Dead Men.
I made a comment on a thread on the Attic about this, though there only seems to be two active FFVII fans (there may be three, Winter Bloom's user image is Vincent but I get the feeling Winter Bloom isn't on all that often. She wasn't back when I was first there) so whether they reply is yet to be seen.

- Alexander - Judgement and Holy, sounds like Tyr, LG, god of Justice. Not to mention Tyr has a paladinic order and Alexander comes across to me as being something like a paladin.
- Bahamut - Something draconic of course! However, despite the irony it strikes in my mind to attribute him to Tiamut, the FR!Tiamut is dead so he'd have to go to someone else. I'm inclined to go with either Asgorath (Dragons and Creation), Garyx (Fire-using Dragons, Destruction, Cleansing) or Kereska (Magic-using Dragons and Magic). (I don't have alignments for dragon gods.)
- Choco/Mog - For some reason the description kamikaze moogle and his chocobo steed and daredevil team team strike me as very Tymoran. Tymora - goddess of Luck (CG). Tymora always strikes me as a very happy-go-lucky sort anyway (if not Mystra then Imoen would definately worship Tymora!) and the amusing image of Choco/Mog seems to fit that.
- Hades - I really don't know here, what the Hades summon like? I can't get a grip on him from EL's description.
- Ifrit - Oooh! Easy one! Kossuth! God of Elemental Fire (N or LN). There's also the fact that the name Ifrit is very much like efreet which while looking up gensai (people who have elementals in their ancestry) is the creature listed as likely ancestors of Fire Gensai.
- Knights of Round - Tyr, Torm, Helm, or even Tempus or Red Knight. The first three all have knights and paladins in their service (Torm-LG-duty, loyalty, obedience, paladins. Helm-LN-guardians, protectors, protection) and the latter two are both gods of warfare, Red Knight being a lesser god in Tempus' service (Tempus-CN-war, battle, warriors. Red Knight-LN-Strategy and Planning).
- Kujata - Nup, no idea. Need more help here on what this one's like before I start picking gods.
- Leviathan - Umberlee, Istishia, Deep Sashelas or Sekolah. All of them some form of Sea god. I'm most inclined towards Umberlee because she has the reputation of being the "Bitch Queen" because rough seas are her thing. She's CE however and I'm not sure I consider Leviathan to be evil. On that matter I'd be inclined towards Istishia (N) or Deep Sashelas (CG).
- Odin - Another hard one, mainly because I'm not sure how much the FF Summon is like the Norse Odin. I will tentitively say Tempus for the moment but that is unsure.
- Phoenix - Another possible Kossuth one because of the fire associations there.
- Ramuh - Ramuh's Lightening isn't he? Alignment be buggered, that's Talos definately (Talos-CE-Storms, destruction, rebellion, conflagrations, earthquakes, vortices).
- Shiva - Ooooh, Ice! Another alignment-be-buggered, definately Auril (NE-Cold, Winter)
- Titan - This one looks like an elemental again, Grumbar-N-Elemental Earth.
- Typhon - Another elemental! Akadi-N-Elemental Air.
