Okay, so I'm kicking myself to write this up because I mentioned it to
bard_linn. The idea takes huge inspiration from Game Restart and My Orphanage, with a bit of resemblance to Faith and Feather as well.
The general idea is as follows:
After Time Compression ends Squall finds himself saddled with a new GF, Griever, only it is markedly different from a normal junction.
Guardian Forces were all human once, but for one reason or another became so powerful they became what they are now. Same thing applies to Griever, but Griever comes from the future.
To be exact, Griever is a future version of Squall.
The fact that they are the same person means the compatibility between them is insanely greater than even the best compatability anyone has ever had to a GF in the past, resulting in Squall being able to use all of Griever's abilities and, if he hands direct bodily control over to Griever, can actually transform into Griever instead of the normal manner of summoning.
Griever's own intentions are not passive, he has things in his past he wishes to change and has every intention of staying with Squall to make sure his younger self has a better life than he did.
I have to wonder of course if this works with the game since I am a hell of a long way off from the scenes important to this bunny.
