Ruby and Emerald WEAPONs are brutal. O.o I could never actually defeat either of them no matter how hard I tried to. I feel useless. >.>

I've been reading some advice I've seen around for the two - though I don't intend on putting it into use until I'm practically ready to go fight Sephiroth.

Go run off and beat on Sephiroth. That's much more fulfilling than wasting your time on planet-generated baddies that want to rape the party of heros.

Make sure you do the Kalm item hunt before you go and try to defeat whichever one is underwater. It gets so much easier then.

Yeah, I've heard of that one, it'll be on my agenda, along with getting KotR before facing either Weapon (one of the strategies involes a lot of miming of KotR).

Oh by the way, with Equivilent Trade - did you take the "Gaia is a child" out of some memory from the game? Because I ran into a scene not long ago where Cid was saying exactly that - the Planet is a scared hurting child.

It comes up after you finish the rocket mission to claim the fourth Huge materia - once you're back on the Highwind everyone is despondant but Cid starts going on about how he used to think the world was large but having seen it from space now thinks of it as small - like a crying child (the scene starts with everyone hearing the Planet's screams) that needs to be taken care of.
