Yesterday I ran across something I'd seen before, the idea that Rude had a crush on Tifa. So, what do I do when I encounter this sort of thing? Look up FF.net.

Yeah, yeah, I know FF.net is the Pit of Voles but it's also the first place to go. I got lucky though, even with character sorting having only been in FF7 for a short time I found something good: Human Touch - a really good fic, feature pairing Rude/Tifa.

I think I have found a pairing I could read Tifa in, but I bet it's not common. Oh well.

Should explain it all... spurred from a timeline I was working on from the last time I started to play through FFVII and bothered to have a notebook in front of me.

Ahh, well that answers why he's unfamiliar to me, he seems to be one of those incidental characters that poor fangirls like me who are trying to make sense of a fandom they haven't seen the canon for end up not knowing about.

But Rude/Tifa has all those lovely issues of Rude being and ex-Turk, Tifa having to live with the fact that Reno is his best friend and the simple fangirly point of Rude being damn cute.

I think I need to start working out a ship-list for FFVII - one of all the ships I can suport and to what degree I suport them.

I could actually go for Rude/Tifa, but don't let Jen say that since she officially converted me to Johnny/Tifa-ness. *laughs*

And occassional Tifa/Aerith moments, but mainly as far as femmeslash goes, I'm a Aerith/Yuffie-in-KH girl.

Sometimes good things appear on FFN. Rarely....but sometimes. =D

If you can't find a lot of good fics about it, why don't you write one yourself? I did that. I wanted a good Rachel/Locke (FFVI) fic...and I couldn't find one. Therefore, I wrote my own and it's now my favorite fic I've ever written. That way, you can evolve your own ideas and stuff like that...and not have to say "oh no, why did he/she say that?" Hee hee.

I seem to be one of the few who have a slightly more tolerant view of FF.net because I have a tad more endurance to go looking for the roses growing in a shitheap.

I very rarely write - and by that I mean once every six months or so - and even then I don't write long pieces (mostly just drabbles/short ficlets) and I have to be able to feel like I understand the characters properly. I did actually write something within the last few weeks but it was a Baldur's Gate short.
I don't feel I could come up with something for FFVII that I would ever consider putting online so I just have to hope I find interesting stuff others have written.
