Oooh, this is a doozy for me!

I have a very mixed up body clock. Part of that is because I don't have a job or classes to force me into a regular routine. It means though that I slowly cycle from being awake during normal daylight hours to being totally nocturnal.

At the moment it is 2.48 AM, and I am not planning to go to bed until maybe 10 to 11 AM. I got up some time after 8.30 PM, after going to bed well after midday.

So half the time my "midnight munchies" are really replacements for breakfast or lunch, since I was asleep at the traditional time for those meals.

As for what, well I am rather a carnivore, despite my upbringing (the Seventh-day Adventist church encourages healthy living, including a vegetarian diet). These days I regularly buy chicken thigh fillets, and semi-regularly buy beef steak (usually cheaper cuts, but ones with little or easy to remove fat). Usually in the day or two after shopping day, most of that gets covered in seasoned flour, wrapped in plastic, and put in the freezer.

So my late night meals often consist of a couple of pieces of that, maybe with a couple of blocks of frozen spinach if I am feeling obligated to have some sort of vegetables.

Usually this is accompanied by my ever-present home-made iced tea. Boiling water, tea bags, sugar, lemon juice, ice, and either frozen fruit, home made fruit syrup (frozen fruit, water and sugar, boiled until liquid is very red/purple) or store bought blackcurrent syrup. Sometimes I add other things, like ginger ale, or, if I have the ingredients, make up apple and ginger tea (apple juice and ginger ale), or pineapple lemon tea (the juice of a can of pineapple slices in the lemon tea base). I usually make it up in a 2 litre jug and drink it gradually. I get through two of those jugs in one day, if I'm feeling like it.

But mostly, as long as I can keep it quiet so I don't wake Mum. She sleeps downstairs these day, in her recliner. She never quite adjusted to using her bed again after summer last year.
