Hmm... That's a puzzler. I suppose the reason I never really noticed is because I was raised a Christian and the whole Birth of Christ story, which I always took as more true than Santa Claus.
At least as far as that is concerned, I never had anyone convincingly argue that Christ never existed, and no one is likely to ever argue me out of it at this stage of my life.
So, Santa? Fun, but not something that I missed. Christ? The real Christmas story.
