I had this weird idea grab me. There's already a couple ideas in G-verse I have along the lines of "[Someone] gets thrown through time-space to another world" but this one kinda takes the cake - for the moment.

See, I view Time Compression as something that isn't quite as "over and done-with" as one might think. If I understand the implications, Ultimecia wanted to collapse all of time into one single ever-present Now that she had ultimate control over (how and why she would, I don't know - maybe she thought she could absorb the powers of ever sorceress who has ever lived and ever will).

Add the point that I think right at the end there, in her final form (that lovely weird double-ended body with the empty head one end and veiny upside-down torso under her skirt) she was damn close in finishing the process of collapsing all of time together as she wanted - until Squall pwned her ass - so I figure the span of time that did get compressed probably ranged pretty damn far in either direction of Ultimecia's time period - conceivably enough time to encompass the history of several world histories either way.

That in mind, the idea is, due to some sort of fooling with time that taps into that temporal mess that is Time Compression, several people from various parts of history - and several worlds along the span of history - get dumped together, along with the summons they may have with them.

The problem is, this means there's a few people who are in the same place twice - sometimes three times. This causes major confusion on most sides, and exasperation for at least the most future-originated versions. I mean lovely confusion it would make for two Clouds plus Tyr in one place, and one Kain plus two [Neo] Bahamuts (not to mention the possible presence of at least two Bahamut Zeros plus Tiamat).

On the subject of Tiamat... I have this lovely image of Bahamut!Kain trying to avoid explaining who she is in the presence of his human self, Cecil and Rosa (as I can only see this all happening some time well before princess Elenora's birth) - and why she's in dragoon armour when Baron has never had a female dragoon - ever.

I don't know how many worlds characters get dragged from however. I know FF4, FF7 and FF8 worlds are definite, because they are always big ones in G-verse, but as for others... well the only other world in main G-verse history is Spira, but none of the True Summons were involved in the events surrounding the Zanarkand/Bevelle war or the reign of Sin, because due to the original race of born summoners dying out in ancient Spira they were cut off from being summoned. The Fayth/Aeon system was (according to G-verse) an artificial replacement to traditional summoning that didn't need one to be born to a particular bloodline. It is also what made sure Gaea and Terra (ff7 and FF8) didn't have a summoner race like Rydia came from.

I want throw in the likes of Yuna and such but she had little to do with the True Summons (there's possibilities because Aeon!Bahamut became a "True Summon" latter, as did Shiva but she ended up passing on the role to a successor who also passed it on so FF8!Shiva is a Terra native), and Basch, but the more I think on any FFXII cross the less I think it fits in, though something I read recently makes me think Ivalice isn't so disconnected from G-verse worlds history, as RW supposedly is going to have the traditional summons in it - Bahamut, Shiva and the like. That may mean Ivalice is a future world from Terra.

Anyway, the image that currently sticks is a grand battle scene - no idea who they are fighting - with Griever and the whole family (the G-verse Family consists of Bahamut, Tyr, Griever, Heimdall, Balder, Frigga, Diablos, Phoenix, Tiamat... and Boko, because he sticks around Griever when he's not wandering off with Moomba and Mog) all in full battle avatars - much to the amazement of several of their non-Terran human allies (which definitely includes a lot of their past selves).

Who they are fighting however... I have no idea. I tend to blame my nebulous idea of a new sorceress who rises some time after the FFVIII events (because I don't think Rinoa is the last, because Ultimecia has to come from somewhere and Rinoa's powers - unlike Squall's - are not a paradox).

I have started to build an idea on how Time Compression can be centred at the point in time where Ultimecia was, and Squall killed her, as well as always being present for quite a lot of the span of time - both backwards and forwards.

Basically, Time Compression was meant to be a singularity - that means it's pulling all of Time into it, so somewhere underneath Time as normal people can sense it is a current that draws anything towards the point where Ultimecia was pulling in everywhen.

That plus the fact that Ultimecia was killed before she completed it means that just under the "surface" of Time is one hell of a mess of all sorts of contradictory currents that can wash anyone up anywhere, and any extra fooling in those currents can cause untold effects elsewhere in Time - hence why it could dump a stack of people from all different times in one place.

I think so far I have 5 Squalls (some of them are Grievers, but they're Squall too).

Griever's family... actually, it could be variously called Bahamut's family or Tyr's family, because they are the ones it formed around originally.
G-verse has past OT4 Of Shiny - Seph/Zack/Cloud/Aeris - before Nibelheim.
Post-FFVII, Cloud had an on-off affair with Vincent.
After DoC Shelke kinda got adopted by Avalanche and hangs around Vincent as much as he can stand (there's uneasiness there, she's a 19-year-old in a 10-year-old body... but she has the mind of Lucrecia Crescent - more or less).
Then Neo Bahamut notices something about Cloud - namely that he carries several key memories of Cecil Harvey's life (why Cloud has them can be chalked up to a few different reasons) and makes a point to get to know this inheritor of his one-time king and lover's memory.
Then a very young Griever gets dumped on them. Very young meaning his transition was only months beforehand. He's stuck living with Cloud and Kain for about 100 years.

Then there's Ellone and Seifer, who become parts of the family due to their connections to Squall, and Boko is the new chocobo GF (I think he's a couple hundred years old).

And Tiamat... well since Odin's death she is now the second oldest GF in existance, since she is Princess Ellanora of Baron - Rosa's second daughter (third child), and first by Kain Highwind (yes, that did cause some trouble).
