So. Witch Hunt.

So I suppose people have been hearing about the pedophile witch hunt hitting fandom? A good coverage of the whole thing can be found in this post by
liz_marcs.
Well it made me think of something that happened yesterday. I got IM'd. Randomly. On AIM.
Now for the most part random IMs mean nothing to me but they usually happen on Y!M, and usually when I have been in the Yahoo chat rooms for a stint. Frankly, given that I RP a lemon, you'd think most people would get a clue and not try to ASL me.
To cut through a lot of exposition, here's the whole conversation:
Him: hi :)
Him: saw you on lj earlier
Me: ahh okay
Him: saw you on one of the sex blogs.. either that or something WoW related.. but weve got a lot in common :)
Me: sex... only if it's fandom related.
Me: Or CF, but I haven't been to CF in a long time
Him: cf?
Me: mostly I haunt fandom areas
Me: Childfree
Him: ah
Him: but ya . im into computers, hentai, incest, porn and a big fan of group sex too :">
Me: Yeah... well, to put my interest list into perspective, most of hat I like *reading* about, in fanfiction.
Him: oh ok.. not into any of it irl?
Me: Nup
Me: My RL is very boring
Him: aww.. thats no fun
Me: Maybe, but that's how my life works.
Me: Most of the stereotypes of geeks who live with their parents up to their 30s apply with me.
Him: oh hehehe :)
Now it may be as innocent as it seems, someone on LJ looking for someone to cyber with, but given the sudden appearance on my flist of worries about this "Warriors For Innocence" group chasing pedophiles I can't help but be a tad paranoid and think that it is possible that it was really someone trying to rat out whether I was doing something illegal.
As I commented, all of my interests are related to fanfiction, and what the hell was that about sex comms anyway? I haven't been to any sex comms in ages and even then it was a curiousity visit to a sex advice comm for adults. At the moment I mostly haunt the Torchwood comms and the closest I come to discussing sex is discussing the sex lives of adult fictional characters!
So I can't help but feel suspicious, but I also get the feeling that even if it was someone investigating me, they probably gave up realizing I'm nothing but a fanfic fan.
