mimi_sardinia: (Mimi)
Okay, so I am actually playing with my sims a bit again. I'm trying to get them properly housed now and working out the issues in the aftermath of all the stuff I gained from [livejournal.com profile] ff7aeris, but I have run into a few problems.

The first one is just weird - I was checking how much money the families left in my family bin each had and the Istilyns (my drow family - black skin, white hair, angular features and pointed ears) needed a bit extra so I used the opportunity to do a bit of nieghbourhood landscaping (I don't know how successful that will be, the land may go back to what it was once I remove the temporary lot)... but I found my family has somehow had their names all screwed up. No biggie, I had started them off again anyway so Ilmryn and Vierna had blood relations to Lyriel and Jhaelrnya so I could simply remake them and delete the narfed versions.

That's when (for a given time of "straight after", given that I did a fair bit of facial alterations, make-up checking and looking at hair) I ran into the more aggravating problem - there is something in the downloaded clothing that crashes the game completely. I can't even get in to see it because it crashes when I try to change to that page of the clothing browser. To add to that, I think there are other clothes that cause crashes if I click on them but I didn't want to cause it to crash before I'd reached the end of the custom content so I knew the extent of the stuff I could see needed deleting (the ones that show some standard outfit instead of the custom content).

Add to that the fact that Body Shop doesn't seem to want to work I don't know how I am supposed to isolate these problem outfits. The only way I can think of will be monumentally painful because it will mean going in and out of the game repeatedly, as I reload the custom content in batches to check through it all. I really don't want to do that!

ETA: Oh Body Shop has started - took ages to get running though. I haven't got to the part of the clothing catalogue where the broken item is, so I don't know yet how it will react. I am however deleting the non-showing items, but I'm glad I had to resort to this because I ran across the white dress I got with Lucrecia as her funerary wear (the dress she's wearing in DoC, in the crystal cave) and while I'm not greatly fond of it, I don't want to throw it away.

ETA, The Sequel: Well Body Shop didn't crash on me, and none of the outfits I was suspicious of did anything so I don't know what the game's problem is, but I got the Istilyns made up on BS anyway, so I don't have to do all the tweaking to their faces and go straight sorting out their clothing and personalities once I open the game again.

Anyway, best I go to bed, be reading an actual book for once - one of the ones left aside after I quit a chapter in and has been sitting for years waiting for me to get back to it... but it's not HBP, it's actually the fifth Earth's Children book - as Clan of the Cave Bear series.
