mimi_sardinia: (FFIV - Cecil Kain Rosa)

I'm scrapping the OT4 icon in favour of this one - while I still like the idea of Kain/Rydia, my head simply won't accept Rydia in a foursome with Kain, Cecil and Rosa.
On the other hand, just those three together in a threesome? I already love the idea and have gratuitously thrown it into Guardianverse, as of my latest piece for that series (in my last post).

The only problem with Amano art is that the guys look incredibly girly - it was only very recently that I figured out that the righthand figure in that pic is Cecil, and Kain's jaw looks very... delicate too. At least their in-game menu page portraits aren't quite so girly.

Amano art is THE LOVE, seriously speaking. I'm pretty sure he's the sole reason I've dug effitimate girly men since I was a wee lass.

And woot to OT3s! I've recently jumped on that band-wagon with Larsa X Penelo X Vayne and it's... well... it's been even more of a wild ride than any OTP I've ever had. XD

Amano's art is very pretty... but I think I have a limit on just how girly I take my menfolk in fiction. For all his long hair Sephiroth doesn't have an overly girly face and despite the common fanon trope, there's nothing really girly about Squall.

On the other hand I'm not exactly a huge fan of OMG!BEEFY!!! males either so a degree of effeminateness that manages to soften a male character a bit is nice.

And threesomes are TEH WIN. I think threesomes, are another thing that I have really grown a fondness for, along with my incewst penchant.

Incest penchants are FTW too! I shipped and wrote about Neji X Hinata (cousins and genetic half-siblings-- their fathers were twins) when I was still in the Naruto fandom and still like to indulge in it once in a while. ::is all nostalgic now::

Overall, I think I dig quite a high level of androgyny in a man. Squall is a great example-- he's not girly or (god help us) a stereotypical crying uke... but he doesn't fit into the American Gold Standard of Phallic Potency either. He's broody and miserable and since I dig chicks like that too (hello Daria!) he's comfortably gender neutral for me. It's a good thing that I'm so highly attracted to the FF fandom then! XD

I think I was skirting the edges of incest back when I was in the Baldur's Gate fandom (which I really got into about six months after I got my computer). That game had the protagonist character (a player-created character) the child of a dead god. The protagonist had a sister, Imoen, and I got the idea into my head of Imoen with the reformed bad guy of the first game - Sarevok. So with them both being bhaalspawn (children of Bhaal, the dead god of Murder) there's a question of just how related they really are.

But then I moved on to other fandoms (Dragonball Z, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings) and wasn't all that bothered about looking for excuses that "explained" my incest ships (though those explainations are good when you're arguing the probability of the pairing - one of the the things I enjoy about Laguna/Squall and miss with Vayne/Larsa).

I love Squall, and writing Guardianverse has made me even fonder of him, because Griever is altered just enough from the original Squall that I can really get into his head properly (Griever's old enough to have finally gotten over a lot of Squall's issues).

Yeah, incest ships are one of those things that I'd be horribly creeped out by in real life (HELLFIRE AT GAFF, OMGWTFBBQ?!) but rather enjoy in fiction. (Where there are no, you know, three headed babies to worry about.)

Hell, I've even dipped my toes into it in the FFXII fandom with a new Vayne X Penelo X Larsa story. (In which Vayne doesn't lay a hand on Larsa but on his wife, using her as a sort of way of being horribly close to his brother...) That's generally how I like my incest ships anyway... not quite realized but sort of lurking menacingly at the outer fringes of other relationships...

I personally like my incest ships fluffy and cute, which conceptually, Vayne/Larsa can't really be (another reason why I cling tenaciously to Laguna/Squall - with Squal practically an adult the likelihood of twistedness is far lower).

Plus anything that includes Vayne is a tiny bit depressing because canonically he dies. There are some pairings I have problems with simply due to half of them dying and the fact that I dislike sad endings a lot (seriously, I hate Romeo and Juliet for that reason!).

Heh, I'm your polar opposite! The incest part tends to completely negate any cuteness and fluffiness that might result! ;)

And any Vayne pairing would be hella depressing to me because that man? He ain't right in the head. So while I enjoy reading (and writing) relationships with Vayne as a complicating factor, I'd greatly fear for the continued health of anyone with him...
