Fanficrants

So, there's a slightly worrying situation on fanficrants.

A self-confessed lurker, football_girl came on and posted a rant that escenially consisted of "Fanficrants is bad! People should be allowed to write fanon, OOC and general badfic if they want!".

Of course, predicably, the community gathered to comment with their objections and general comments.

Well now there's a new post - comment-locked (which is against comm rules) and full of "Ha ha! You did just what I thought you'd do!".

What's worrying however is the tone of "Now I have material, I'm going to do something really nasty!" going on in it - with lines like:

There was a reason I posted it, and you'll all find out soon enough why if you keep your eyes open on LJ.

and

I never approved of communities like this,

and

So, my job is done. Thank you for contributing. I enjoyed it. Keep your eyes open. I'm sure you're just going to love it. xD

Also, I apologise if this actually long-term hurt someone.



Somehow I think the comm has a brat with a grudge out to get it deleted by LJ Abuse - or something like that, but what worries me is that will LJ Abuse see that they deliberately triggered said "abuse" that was levelled at them?

Speaking from personal experience, I doubt they'll get anything concrete done. :) If it gets deleted, there will be a new comm within a few minutes. And I think LJ abuse actually contacts the offender first, so that would help.

Well I hope it doesn't even go as far as the comm being deleted - that'd mean the whole archive of past rants would go up in smoke and there's some old favourites that I have in memories.

You know, I was actually thinking the same thing: some fantwit badficcer saw her story ranted about and got her panties in a bunch.

I hope that LJ takes a "well, she asked for it" stance, as well as acknowledging free speech and freedom of opinions. I really don't think anything'll come of it, but hey, we can all point and laugh at her for trying. I'm sure this isn't the first time someone has tried to get fanficrants shut down as part of a personal vendetta.

The mod tags on that second post were entertaining at least XD
