GFs

I have a need to write something of Griever. It does follow my pet plotbunny of Squall becoming Griever and the whole timeloop of two versions of him co-existing.
There's also a big bite of my obsession with making other new GFs out of canon characters in this.

Slight DoC spoiler.

He was one of the youngest, at three thousand years of age not many other Guardian Forces were younger. Succubus was thought to be one of those few, having been found in Galbadia within a hundred years after his own transition - though she could never say how long she had been waiting before SeeD had found her and successfully claimed her alliance. Fenrir definately was younger than Griever, one who had been someone Griever had known as a human.

He was though, for all his infancy as a GF, very powerful. He had needed to be to protect his adopted family - the GFs who he had once junctioned and was now one of. Neither had he rested on his laurels the second time he had lived the period leading up to Ultimecia's rise, he had built his power along side his younger self, because while his younger self set out to gain the reputation of "the most powerful GF" to draw Ultimecia's attention away from the rest of the GFs the elder needed power to protect those same GFs.

He had not succeeded totally to protect his GF family, Bahumut's kin, the dragon GF Tiamat, had been lost.

Still, despite his carefully developed reputation he was in fact not the strongest as the witch had believed. There were two other beings who were more powerful than he and both had it within their power to bring the world to its end.

One of these powers was a well-known secret amongst the GFs. Though no GF would ever speak a word of him to any being - no matter the persuasion used on them (the final thing that had doomed Tiamat) - no GF existed unaware of his presence.

The GFs had found some measure of wry amusement at Ultimecia's attempts to control Omega WEAPON. There was no way the Great Beast could be controlled by anyone but Lord Chaos. Lord Chaos was older than all the GFs, older than the incarnation of Omega that had been summoned to Ultimecia's castle, older than the whole planet, having migrated with the Omega who had founded this world.

Lord Chaos had been controlled in the past - in that world before this one, the one from where he still retained a human avatar that he had been forced into. He would never be controlled again and looked on Ultimecia's attempts to use the Great Beast he commanded with disgust. It had been with Lord Chaos' allowance the Omega had fallen to Griever's human self. Omega could be grown again, Lord Chaos would not let his world be destroyed without his approval.

But there was one other - one who, in her own way was more powerful than even Lord Chaos. All the GFs - including their lord - protected her, but none more carefully than Griever. She was, like Lord Chaos, known only to the GFs.

Her power was time. Not just the simple time spells that the Planet granted humans but a complete control of time. Griever knew that if Ultimecia had been aware of her existance she would have stopped at nothing to control her - even if it meant facing every GF and even Lord Chaos himself.

But she was more important to Griever - more than a GF he had witnessed the transition of, more than the true weilder power that had protected the GFs from the witch Ultimecia - none of that mattered to Griever.

All that mattered to Griever was that she was his sister.
