bad_rpers_suck and fanficrants has left me with some degree of knowledge of some of the more common bad descriptions given for characters. In particular, descriptions for eyes that call them "orbs", "optics" and "oculars".
I just ran into the last of those and whoa mamma! It sounds waaaaaaay too weird, especially when it's suposed to be a complementary description from the POV of a character who has a secret crush on the object of their attention!
And the kicker is the story is actually pretty good, they just picked a euphemism that hit me badly.
