You don't need big expensive plans to take advantage of time alone in the house. Sometimes just hanging around and relaxing is the best feeling in the world. If you feel like being social maybe just ask a friend over to watch movies with you. This sounds awful because I do adore my husband, but when he has to go away for a couple of days it is heaven! House all to myself, eat and do whatever I like and only one person's mess to look after. Heaven lol
Oh and I hate chopping pumpkin as well. I love pumpkin but I avoid recipes for it just because chopping it up annoys me :D
