Yeah, the whole Eighties thing isn't so bad. Hell, I think it's one of the fun parts of Transformers - getting into all the cheesy Eightiesness of it. Besides, better the Eighties than the Seventies - the Seventies were the decade style forgot.
On a whole, I hate fake accents - I hate fake Aussie accents with a passion (my accent, I don't like hearing it abused - but then I also find that New Zealander accents grate because they're so similar but just different enough to sound like someone is talking wrong), I disliked the Doctor Who Dalek double episode in series 3 because of all the bad New Yorker accents, and Marissa Fairbourn's bad upper class English accent is terrible. Sky Lynx's accent is rather fake too, but there's just something about it that I like.
