When I have dreams they definitely weird. I like that, the weirder the better. This was no exception.
There's actually a couple of bits, the earlier bit was rather disconnected to the latter bit (I may have even woken to go to the toilet in between), but in it I was visited my father and his wife, but said wife was definitely not my RL step-mother, it was some young blonde thing.
I had to go buy groceries for Mum some reason, even though she wasn't there and apparently a long way away (given that Mum and I live in Brisbane and Dad is in Sydney, this is a familiar factor) but I only had $100 to buy the items on my shopping list but I needed part of that to pay for a cab back to Dad's house.
I was trying to tell Dad's young blonde thing that I needed to contact Mum to let her know I had to use some of the money for a cab but she started pushing me to agree to let her throw a party, so I agreed just to shut her up but then Mum drove up, apparently having driven down to Dad's house (actually, the house was a mansion that belonged to the young blonde thing and I suspected he married her for it), and had somehow shifted the driver's seat so it was right up the back of the cabin of the car. When I talked to Mum she didn't mind the money spent on the cab, or the party I agreed to.
There was also a bit of a dream about me trying to drive a car from the passenger seat because there was no one in the driver's seat.
But the real weird dream was after those:
It started with me following a group of friends, walking along some city streets in late twilight, having to run a bit to keep up. We went round a corner and got to a building that had a flat upstairs where some old lady lived and most everyone was going up there to visit her (there was a tone of very motherly sort of person to her) but I started to talk one of the guys into going down the stairs downstairs to her place instead.
These stairs were in a spot blocked off by a couple of fence rails but I could wriggle under them (even though I worried my butt wouldn't make it and I'd get stuck) but everyone was arguing with me for talking said guy into going down the hole so I had to tell them what was really down there, since I'd been down there before.
In a nutshell, what was down the hole was Wonderland. Not Disney Wonderland though, or Lewis Carroll Wonderland to be more exact but a strange place that reacts to the thoughts of anyone who goes there.
The others start spouting rumours they'd heard about it being a terrifying place and such but I start to explain to them how anything that happens there is actually a reflection of your mind - if you have a phobia about stairs collapsing then the stairs which you enter by will be scarily unstable and will probably collapse.
I tell them about what happened as I left, how I walked out of a "trailer park" (it looked nothing like, more like an empty lot surrounded by redbrick fences with decorative iron spikes, but I told them "trailer park" for want of a better succinct description) when a couple of fiery pits open up in the ground in front of me and I had to decide which to jump into (though both were as bad as each other), but before I could pick the land that separated them collapsed so they were one big pit instead of two and the collapse extended to where I was standing so I fell in but I only felt a bit of heat before I was returned to the normal world.
But in between the explaining the collapsing stairs analogy and the fiery pit one there was a couple of images flashed of what happened while I was there. Barring a flash of an older dream about exploring the third floor of a decrepit mansion, mostly what I did in Wonderland was sex.
There was part of the dream where I said that, but there was this sense that I didn't say it out loud.
Anyway, after the whole fiery pit bit there was a bit of a flash of some of the stuff I did get up to and one scene was of some young blonde thing (different one to the one married to my Dad in the earlier dream) who was an avatar of myself, stripping of to some really old fashioned underwear in front of a guy, then going to a door, saying "But what I really like to do is go swim in yuppy water!" and jumping out the door into a lake that curls upwards and has reflections of mountains and sky on them and the Young-Blonde-Thing-me-avatar dogg-paddling up the curve and causing waves to break up the lovely mountain scene.
And that's about when I woke up.
Surreal does not even begin to cover my dreams, and I love them because of it. I've heard of people being able to control their dreams but when one has such cool strange dreams why would you ever want to?
P.S. I really hate LJ's spellchecker telling me that "rumour" and "blonde" are spelled wrong.
