Okay so I am finally able (and willing) to do a big catch-up post.
So, I've been in hospital, had the surgery I was waiting for.
Having an epidural put in is a real pain - you have to curl over in a ball so your back is properly exposed and the position is mightily uncomfortable and getting the line itself put in hurts as well.
Everything went reasonably well, up until the regular painkiller coming through the epidural was cancelled. That... was hell. Once I started to get the better of that, I did better.
Also, getting a chest infection while in hospital for stomach surgery is... not fun. You know how many muscles in the stomach area goes into coughing? Lots. And when you've just come off regular painkillers and you're coughing... ow. Double ow. Triple ow with sprinkles on top!
Now I'm out, I'm not in the sort of situation as last time, where I wasn't up to doing slagging anything. I can walk well enough to go to the shops, with only the proviso that I can take it slow and am not lugging around heavy stuff. I managed to deal with my laybuys today, and them took a trip over to the Chrisco office to take advantage of a deal they were offering. Couldn't deal with much more than that, but that's not bad for someone who still has the surgical staples in their belly.
The shopping isn't done yet buy dint of the fact that Mum forgot to grab my purse, but there's no huge hurry there.
As for the Chrisco deal, it seems the company, in an effort to get back more customers, put up an offer of a free hamper (from this year's excess) if I put in an order for the next year. That's reasonable, I found a good hamper to order, and the free one we picked up was a nice bundle of items, including three boxes of chocolate (especially since Mum wanted some).
Admittedly, I can't have most of the stuff, since I'm still on a liquid diet, but various items can be saved until I can eat firmer things.
So, for now, I'm achy, a bit sore, and still coughing, but I'm doing okay.
