I already knew that Laguna had been on the space station not long before meeting him (properly) in Esthar but I didn't realise the exact details of the matter until playing through the space station scenes again.
( The first time Squall really meets Laguna )
I had been wondering about a scene earlier of someone heading out to check on Adel's tomb but fobbed it off. Now, I think that was him as well.
Makes me wonder though if the two aides who drag him off when the space station is being evacuated are Kiros and Ward, though neither looked larger than normal so Ward may not be an option.
The face plates for those space suits must have some sort of optional shield - like a glare shield or such though, because Squall didn't start getting definate ideas on who the president was until he actually sawKiros when he returned planet-side.
Edit: Actually, it's Ward he first sees, at the Sorceress Memorial, after rescuing Rinoa. Zell then brings news while they're at Edea's house that they've been contacted by Esthar and the person who spoke to them was Kiros.
