Well I gave up trying to go back the third time I run into the Zolom and played everything through right from the grasslands but on the other hand I do have my first summon materia, Choco/Mog.

I'm back to levelling up in Junon Forests again - yes, I have Yuffie - and basically trying to make up the money I gave up to Fort Condor and generally improve the levels of my team. It's not going to be a short job, I'm trying to get Barret up at the moment then I'll skip over to Yuffie and Tifa - problem is, I suspect I'll be doing them one at a time to push my favoured team member - Aeris - higher. I want to up her as much as I can early so I can enjoy her abilities the longest I can before the inevitable happens.

I also want Cloud up (but I can't help push him up since I can't actually stick him in reserve) because I want to try something I saw discussed on [livejournal.com profile] ff7 - getting Omnislash on the first disk. So I want him high to start with, before I get to Gold Saucer, so I can do that.

There's also a funny line I ran across, but I failed to save the screencap - in the Mythril Mines, when the team runs into the Turks, Tseng says something to the effect of "Aeris, good to see you". Of course, given the name Aeris has in my game, it comes across as some insane story about a guy whose genitalia is detatchable and wanders off on it's own. XD

Meanwhile the scene in general strikes me as interesting as far as the dinamics of the whole Tserith relationship. It does help suport an interesting little plotbunny that is in the back of my head, though it's a total het plotbunny (we are talking Tserith here).

Meh.

Wikipedia's page for Before Crisis is interesting to read, especially when it comes to seeing how the characters we all know and love have been pictured - Yuffie looks very cute!

I HAVE YUFFIE!!!!!

It took a bit of work though, second time around I had to run around the forests quite a lot before she appeared but that is probably a very good thing because it does mean I got Cloud, Barret and Aeris up a few levels in the process.

I did run into one type of creature - I have no idea what it's called though because the game doesn't actually give creature names at the start of battles but until someone can inform me I have christened them Annoying Little Shits )

GAH! They hit hard! I was damn lucky not to be served another Game Over by them! Believe me, they probably brought me Aeris' Seal Evil limit Break all that quicker because damn! is Healing Wind useful when it comes up!

On a side note, Matra Magic is also very bloody useful and does a seriously cool amount of damage.

Oh, and does anyone know where there's a DevArt animation that has silly subtitles to one of the Divinity tracks on the OST with such lines as "morsels of Barret" and "eating the Yuffie" in it? Someone mentioned it on one of the comms so now it's stuck in my head and I have to watch it again only I didn't keep a link and this is turning into a run-on sentence isn't it?

But anyway, I got the first of the optional characters!!!!! And she has been officially named Brat. I decided against Imoen because people probably wouldn't get the joke there.

Edit: Looks like I'm in for hell trying to avoid the Zolom again, I didn't get the Choco/Mog Materia and I'm going to have to go back for it. Dammit!
