Err... Chaos?

I have no idea how like Vincent this sounds like. I'm not sure if I can right Vincent. I'll leave it up to the opinions of others if I got anywhere within a stone's throw of "Vincent".
This is in the same theme as that fic-thing from a week ago. FF7/FF8 crossover. No real spoilers, not even for DoC which this is so dependent on for an excuse for why Vincent is in the FF8 world.
Of all the things he had thought he would end up doing, ruling over a world had never been even the faintest consideration.
Back then, at the beginning, he never realized that having the demon inside him would end up like this. Not even when he found out just what the demon really was did he think it would go this far. In all truth, he had expected to die and the demon be released back into the Lifestream when he did.
That death had never come.
He had eventually come to accept the demon, thinking that maybe when the world ended so would his own life.
It had not happened.
As a result, here he was now, guardian of a new world - younger and healthier than the one he had been born on. The part of his memories that came from the demon went further back, to worlds before his, back into the dawn of the universe - but he did not dwell on such thoughts, all that mattered was here and now, this world and the guardians who protected it.
Not to mention the interloper he had just confronted.
That one had been a guardian spirit, but not one he knew. The others had reported the events of Time Compression to him, telling him of the creature the witch had summoned - a rogue guardian serving the vessel of this world's infection.
He had executed rogues before with no remorse and no regrets but he had stopped his hand with this one, allowing it to plead it's case. An intriguing story it had to tell, of time travel, and of protecting it's "family". That had been what had stopped his hand, prompting him to ask who this "family" was.
"The GFs are my family, and you are my lord and master. I serve you, I serve the planet, and I serve my family - protecting them from the sorceress."
He still did not totally trust this guardian but he was willing to wait and see if the events he spoke of would occur - if the humans he predicted would make the transition into new guardians would come about. Until then he refused to trust the apparent worshipfulness this time traveller held for him - this "Griever".
