FFIV

So, I am venturing into a new FF, one of the older (pre-7) ones too!

Already got a nice fill of the FF theme (the one that's in the credits of FF8, AC and the Revenant Wings trailer), plus the Crystal theme (the Prelude from FF7).

I have come across my first problem - how do you take the characters seriously when they have such cute little sprites?

Also, does anyone know of an icon with Kain and Cecil in it, with the caption "Stop staring at my butt, Kain" - or something along those lines? Seems I never saved a copy but now that I'm going to be playing FF4 I want that icon and the one person who I thought has it doesn't.

Wasn't a problem for me... or maybe I'm just old school. At any rate, FFIV has one of the most angsty and dramatic stories in the entire damned series, so I'd be very surprised if you don't end up taking the characters at least a little bit seriously!

As for the icon, I see it at Fandom Wank every once in awhile... may want to browse there.

Yeah, I once I actually get into it I supose I'll get over it - it's just a somewhat flipant initial thought, not a small part caused by the fact that I really am a "new school" FF fan - having started with 7, then going onto 8 and 10 and currently otherwise wishing for 12 to turn up here in Aus.

Maybe I'll have to go looking for FF wanks to find the icon - I figure those would be the most likely.

I started with FF7 myself, but had been gaming (in general) on and off since the '80s; also, I'm not much of a graphics snob.

Also, if I run across that icon before you do, I'll let you know.

Well I'd hardly call myself a graphics whore either - it was only a bit over a year ago that I played FF7 for the first time and I just thought the sprite in it were cute.

Then again, my all-time favourite game is around the same age as FF7 and FF8 - Baldur's Gate - and it's very sprite based too.

Anyway, I've had a bit more play since I first made this post and I'm growing attached to Cecil a bit - and wondering if there's any cute fluff fics that include Rydia (because cute fluff that involves child characters is... cute).

I'm reading old wanks at the moment - I'm in a FFXII one at the moment, reading all the fangirling is kinda fun.
