FFIV

So, I am venturing into a new FF, one of the older (pre-7) ones too!

Already got a nice fill of the FF theme (the one that's in the credits of FF8, AC and the Revenant Wings trailer), plus the Crystal theme (the Prelude from FF7).

I have come across my first problem - how do you take the characters seriously when they have such cute little sprites?

Also, does anyone know of an icon with Kain and Cecil in it, with the caption "Stop staring at my butt, Kain" - or something along those lines? Seems I never saved a copy but now that I'm going to be playing FF4 I want that icon and the one person who I thought has it doesn't.

Guardianverse - my pet AU - has several of GFs (it's mainly FF8) with more human identities behind their "battle avatars". Diablos is Vincent Valentine, Pheonix is Shelke/Lucrecia, Squall becomes Griever, and there's several non-canon GFs that are other FF7 characters.

Bahamut however is older than almost all of the other GFs, having lived through more than one world crossing. He is, in my mind, the weaker of the three FF7 Bahamut materia, having shared the name with older incarnations of the Dragon.

His human form is also a dragoon, and I have been idly wondering if Kain Highwind would fit into the role.

Hmmm, that actually does make a lot of sense... but there is a Bahamut in FFIV. But if you're thinking for an AU universe, that would fit pretty well.

Actually, I have a reasoning to make my way around that as well - Summons don't stay the same from aeon to aeon, world to world. They can get old and when they do, some new soul comes along - often human - and takes over the role. So the Bahamut of FFIV got tired and Kain took over the role.

I was thinking over something and I actually think now that he wasn't the weakest of the three materia, but probably Neo Bahamut - with the Bahamut that was before him being Bahamut ZERO and plain Bahamut being FFX Bahamut instead. I don't know however what happened to him, he might have been the unfortunate who became Tiamat (a very big point in Griever's life, as he gave himself over to Ultimecia to protect the rest of the GFs from suffering the same fate as Tiamat).
