Plotbunny Assult
Okay, so I have been assulted by a plotbunny. The problem is this time it's a plotbunny for characters I don't know all that well. I mean I have read neumerous fanfic rants for both of them and I have read a very few fics for them that probably vary in ICness and I have read discussions about them between people who know them and I've read Wikipedia... but I haven't actually seen any of the original canon.
The problem is they're Chain of Memories characters. I don't even have a gameboy of any form, let alone the game itself. It'll be a while before I can get a gameboy of any form too as I have a list of things that I suspect is getting as long as my arm that I need to do before I can think about a gameboy of any form.
Anyway, the point of this ridiculously long preword is that I have no idea if this plotbuuny contains much logic or how IC it can be.
Anyway, the characters in question are Lexaeus and Zexion. I can't help it, I love the idea of those two together and what little I do know of CoM at least they are working together in it.
To start with the bunny has a basis that back before the elder members of the Org became Nobodies Elaeus and Ienzo were very close friends and after becoming Nobodies the memory of that relationship holding Lexaeus and Zexion together as partners in practically everything.
The idea I have is this: some time before the events of CoM - but not that far before - the two of them were working on some sort of magic to prevent Nobdies from fading away - or at least Nobodies like the Org members who haven't lost their original selves. The reason I say not long before CoM is because Zexion and Lexaeus had not yet told anyone else in the Org about this experiment.
The other basic point of the bunny is that it is based on talk I have seen around a fair bit about Zexion's potential of coming back because he is the only Org member whose death is not seen onscreen.
So Zexion survives the fight with Repliku. The practical effect of the experiment he and Lexaeus did is that despite Lexaeus' apparent death his soul is not totally lost - I imagine it turning into something akin to the summon gems (that I have not yet seen in my play of KH1). Yes, I know the summon gems are suposed to be those characters hearts which is why I say "something like". Anyhow, Zexion managed to grab this "soul gem" before Repliku came after him and he, one way or another, survives the fight with Repliku - though maybe having to run, or being banished from that world.
The first opertunity he has to return to the World That Never Was isn't until a year or more later and he becomes aware that Sora is loose and decides it's not worth it returning to the Organisation because Sora is just that dangerous and he really is not prepared to face the kid down.
However he is there when Kingdom Hearts is blown apart and one way or another he tracks down his own heart - and Lexaeus' heart too.
So now he's whole again... but not totally. Between being a Nobody for so long and whatever he did to himself to guard his soul from being lost (the same thing that saved Lexaeus' soul) he's not quite... fully together.
He also has both Elaeus' heart and soul in his keeping but is searching for a way to create a new body for Number 5.
At this point my lack of imagination comes and bites holes in the plotbunny. I can imagine the restored Ienzo travelling the worlds, looking for the magic to stablise himself and fully restore Elaeus. I don't think he'd go to Radiant Garden - people there probably remember him and know he was part of Organisation XIII and therefore would not trust him an inch.
And yes, the whole point of this plotbunny is that Zexion lives, Lexaeus is eventually reserected and they both have their hearts back. Zexion does not however have to be nice, even when he becomes Ienzo again - he doesn't have to care about what he has to do to get Elaeus back, just about getting his friend back, whole.
It's also a possibly pre-slash plotbunny - unless you want to consider the two of them involved while they were Nobodies.
So any, don't know how sensible that is but that's the idea that's been biting me.
