Dub - Subs

The subtitles on AC do not totally match up with the dub.

I am guessing that it means that the subtitles are more matched up to the japanese dub in some areas - or english dialog got changed slightly to match mouth movements a bit better.

I am also addicted to Reminicence - or specifically to the middle section of it that is set to One Winged Angel. I also like seeing the WEAPONs clearly.

Meh.

Such is typically the case with translated anime, which is one reason to prefer subs ;)

*have yet to watch any of the extras ;_;*

i've seen the original japanese voices with english subtitles now.

actually, i was really disappointed at how *close* the english subtitles were to the english dubbing. Alot of the anime i have - the english subs and dubs are different; What's being said is still bascially the same, it's just that they're slightly different ways of saying it. and i've always assumed the dub is different to help fit mouth-movements better, etc. When i first noticed this in anime, i was like - "why is it different?", but now i like it, because i realise that sometimes you can't translate *exact* meanings from one language to another. So by getting the two similiar-yet-different enlgish variations through dubbing and subbing, i can sort-of draw these two translations together, to help get a better understanding of what the japanese meaning is.

Meanwhile, if you watch the deleted scenes through 'play all', they only take like, 5 minutes in total. They're very short; and yes, most of them don't have sound affects added, which is a little weird. It's not the greatest extra feature i've ever seen. I found myself by the end, sitting alone in my room, making the noises of motorbikes and guns outaloud to amuse myself............ I'm *so* glad no one walked in on me doing that! ;P

Meanwhile, Yazoo's jap voice is so WAY better than the english dub, it's just ridiculous. I mean - wtf? Since when does a deep, manly, commanding voice get translated into a higher-pitched, slower, more trippy english equivalent?!?! Laz also sounds like he has half a brain when he's speaking japanese. Kadaj sound mildly insane, whether he's jap or english, heh ;P & Aeris' voice is annoying no matter who's doing her too. But at least the japanese girl doesn't take such long pauses!

Otherwise, i don't have too many complaints- everyone else seems to do a pretty good job. Seph's voice in Jap is still rather sexy, but i think i prefer the english dubbing. Something about that guys voice and the way he says stuff just makes me want to cream myself >;D

On a side note, i can't watch certain scenes without giggling insanely, expecting Denzel to talk in tongues, or for Bohemian Rhaspody to start playing in the background, or for Kadaj to start singing using his Mother as a mike. ^_^
